Resources, guidance and training to support UK production community during ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA industrial action

SAG-AFTRA (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists) and the WGA (Writers Guild of America) have both announced strike action, which came into effect from 14th July and 2nd of May respectively. These are US unions representing screen actors and writers, and the strikes are currently ongoing.

The British Film Commission recognises that this is a very sensitive industrial relations situation in the US. We hope for a swift and equitable resolution for all parties.

Despite this incredibly challenging time, we still firmly believe in the UK’s position as a leading global centre for film and TV production, attracting domestic and international producers to make their content here due to our competitive tax credits, globally-celebrated talent in front of and behind the camera, and our range of world-class studios and locations.

Equally, we acknowledge this will be a very challenging time for many in our sector in the UK, due to the suspension of productions impacted by the strikes. To support our UK production community during this challenging period, we have compiled a list of UK organisations providing resources, support and training.

Guidance and Support:

The Film and TV Charity is providing a variety of services and resources to support cast and crew’s mental health during these challenging times, including their 24 hour Support Line: 0800 054 0000.
