Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of the British Film Commission responds to launch of the Screen Sector Skills Taskforce report

Responding to today’s launch of the Screen Sector Skills Taskforce report, Adrian Wootton OBE, Chief Executive of the British Film Commission, said:

“The British Film Commission welcomes and strongly supports today’s publication of the Screen Sector Skills Task Force report, which makes clear industry’s commitment to driving a step change in the number of skilled people entering the UK screen industries. Having been part of the Task Force, I appreciate the considerable effort involved in reaching these important recommendations.

“The report also lays out proposals for industry to work with the Higher and Further Education sectors in a new way. As a member of the Task Force Steering Group on this area, I very much welcome the constructive dialogue we’ve had between industry and educational establishments, so I’m pleased this is reflected in the report.”

“There is a clear and pressing need to train our current and upcoming workforce so we are able to play our part in meeting the global demand for content. Of course, while great work is being done by industry and others to address the skills gaps, there’s still a great deal we must all do to bring more people through the training system. I believe the recommendations set out in today’s report will be essential to driving that change in approach, and supporting our sector to bring forward a truly diverse, sustainable and inclusive workforce for the UK.”
