Responding today (15 March 2023) to the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer's Spring Budget, which sets out a package of reforms to the audio-visual tax reliefs, the British Film Commission welcomed the package of measures, which clearly demonstrates Government’s recognition of and commitment to the continued growth and success of the UK’s film and high-end TV sector. Supporting the UK’s skills pipeline is a priority for the British Film Commission. With this in mind, we partnered with Screen Alliance Wales through funding three bespoke film and TV production workshops, with a focus on key industry skill areas. Today, the British Film Commission, in consultation with industry, has updated its Working Safely During COVID-19 in Film and High-end TV Drama Production guidance, to reflect UK Government’s Living with COVID-19 plan.
The revised guidance aims to help productions in continuing to manage the risk of COVID-19 as part of their Health and Safety considerations and provides advice on sensible precautions to take to support their cast and crew, including advice on Mental Health and Wellbeing on set. The British Film Commission will continue to review this guidance in line with changes to Government regulations and the evolution of industry practices.
